The first two solar homes I did were built in the early 1980's
and were designed by Walker Hagens, AIA. To this day they stand
as the best drawn and detailed plans I have dealt with besides
being beautiful and efficient. It was at this time I began my
long association with the . They provide a wealth of information and are
very helpful and innovative. I was honored that my first house
design was chosen by the NC Solar Center to be presented at the
Southeast Conference on Solar Building.
Solar homes occupy a special place for me. The energy efficiency
is something that is much needed, but what I really love is they
are homes that look outward and are part of the rhythms of the
day and the year.
I have built and designed a number of solar homes and additions
over the years and always look forward to the next one.
